TIL there's a whole genre of movies called Mockbusters, movies that bootleg the expensive originals.

Oh yeah for years the gas stations up and down I95 would have racks of these things.

Titles like World WarsZ, Saving Private Rian, etc etc

Be Kind Rewind is a quirky movie where they end up making these Mockbusters. Don’t recommend if you don’t like Jack Black. Do recommend if you like Mos Def.

Including such classics as

Transmorphers
Age of the Hobbits
Snakes on a Train
The DaVinci Treasure

And many more

I used to love them ,they got me into B movies some so bad they were actually good, Asylum did a lot of them.

This is how we end up with Sharknado.

Back in the day when Netflix was fairly new and still had a comment feature you had to be careful you weren’t accidently renting one of these. Always had to check the comments.

Huh. Never seen one of those in the flesh. I guess they don’t travel outside the US much.
